Commonwealth Radiology Associates
In 2002 Commonwealth Radiology Associates (CRA) was created by the former associates of Essex Radiology Associates providing radiology services to Lowell General Hospital and Union Hospital in Lynn, and Naumkeag Radiological Associates providing radiology services to Salem Hospital in Salem. The integration of the groups accompanied the merger of Union Hospital and Salem Hospital to form North Shore Medical Center.
CRA has grown rapidly over the following years. The practice provides radiology services to North Shore Medical Center, Lowell General Hospital, Pentucket Medical Associates in Haverhill, Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in Chelmsford and Cambridge, the Vein Specialists of the North Shore, Look Your Best North Shore, and Vascular Access of the North Shore in Beverly, and the Mass General - NorthShore Ambulatory Care Center in Danvers. At its inception in 2003 CRA had 19 partners and shareholders. In July 2015, the practice had grown to 45 radiologists. It is now one of the largest non-academic private practice Radiology groups in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
CRA's radiologists have been drawn from many major teaching facilities, predominantly in the Boston area, but also from around the country. Interventional procedures are performed by a cadre of dedicated and highly skilled interventionalists. In addition to practicing across the spectrum of general radiology, the non-interventional imaging radiologists typically have specialized training in one or more of the radiology subspecialties including Mammography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Neuroradiology, Computed Tomography, Ultrasound, Pediatrics, Nuclear Medicine, as well as Radiology Informatics.
